    The Old Taylor Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky was built by Colonel Edmind Haynes Taylor Jr - and if you're a Bourbon fan you'll recognise E. H. Taylor as a hard-to-find Buffalo Trace release. The distillery closed in 1972 and parts were sold off for scrap, but eventually the remnants were purchased by friends Will Arvin and Wes Murry in 2014, and distilling recommenced in 2016 in a revitalised operation that is a must-see if you're in the area.

    With a mashbill of 63% rye, 17% yellow corn and 20% malted barley and an age of around 4 to 5 years in virgin oak, this is one of the fruitiest yet well balanced ryes I have had in a long time. There's an overriding note of orange oil and zest, with soft spices completing perfectly. It's a mouthwatering rye - it'll be perfect in an Old Fashioned but I found this a joy to sip neat.

    It's not currently available in the UK - I sourced this during a trip to the US, but I will be doing what I can to get my hands on more!

    Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by the carriers we use.

    Please note due to our opening times goods ordered on a Saturday may result in a delayed arrival. Goods ordered on a Sunday or Monday will be shipped from the store on the Tuesday immediately following - please bear this in mind if you have a deadline.

    48 Hour Delivery uses the Tracked 48 service from Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.

    Next Day Delivery uses DHL services, a tracking number will also be supplied to allow you to follow its journey.

    Items are NOT insured as standard, please contact us if you would like to discuss additional insurance for premium products.

    All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or excessive amount of bubble wrap for additional protection.

    All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.

    RETURNS / EXCHANGES POLICY

    The Spirit Specialist offers EXCHANGES ONLY on unwanted items to an equal amount. Refunds will not be given, cash differences in favour of the purchaser in the case of an exchange will also not be provided.
