Nearly three-quarters of rum consumed in the USA is produced in Puerto Rico and Don Q - derived from Don Quixote - is the number one selling rum in that country. Launched as a brand in 1932, the Serralles family who founded it had been involved in sugar cane growing since the mid-1830s and manufactured rum since 1865.
A molasses-based rum produced in column stills, the Reserva is aged in ex-Bourbon barrels for a minimum of 7 years. Column still produce a lighter flavour profile and Don Q are forthright in stating no sugar is used as a sweetener. A decent amount of aging does provide sweeter notes of vanilla and a hint of coconut, before warm oak and soft spices kick in towards the finish.
For the price point it's an excellent sipping and cocktail rum, working well in the likes of Mai Tai. There's less of the weight you'd get from the likes of El Dorado but if you like your rums a little lighter and fresher this is definitely worth a look - and the price point is excellent!

Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
