Maison Ferrand was founded by Alexandre Gabriel in 1989 with a mission to preserve age-old, craft production methods that capture the true expression of Cognac, and a commitment to revisit the classics while advancing innovation.
The adventure began with Ferrand Cognac, a 100% Grande Champagne Cognac with roots in the region stretching back over four centuries and ten generations. In 1996, Alexandre created Citadelle Gin, spearheading a movement for French gins. Due to strict regulations imposed by Cognac’s appellation d’origine controlee (AOC), Alexandre Gabriel was obligated to stop using his cognac stills for seven months of the year. After five long years of negotiations, he obtained the AOC authorization to distill gin during the period that the stills were usually dormant, giving the traditional copper pot stills new life and purpose.
Ferrand 1840 Cognac is based on an old recipe dating back to that very year, which also involved the tasting of some liquid dating back to that point in time. Using purely Ugni Blanc grapes and 25% virgin oak casks alongside traditional Cognac barrels, the end result is a brilliantly balanced marriage of soft orchard fruits, gentle sweet spice and a subtle hit of warm oak. It drinks beautifully on it's own but will also make a superb cocktail when added to Ferrand Dry Curacao.

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All orders are sent on a Tracked service with Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.
Items are NOT insured as standard, please contact us if you would like to discuss additional insurance for premium products.
All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
