Established as a grocery store in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail quickly became involved in purchasing new make spirit from whisky distilleries around Scotland to mature in their own selected casks. Now in the 4th generation of family ownership and still fiercely independent, G&M offer a range of fantastic quality whiskies that can't be matched by other independent bottlers, who rely on purchasing casks of already matured whisky to bottle and sell - G&M are doing everything but the actual distilling, ensuring a care of cask management from day one.
The 'Discovery' range is a selection of whiskies that provide an introduction to what G&M offer - an entry level range highlighting three different flavour profiles: Sherry maturation, Bourbon maturation and the effect of peat
Pronounced 'Orr-thusk' - thanks Scottish Gaelic! - the Auchroisk Distillery was built in 1972 to produce whisky stocks to be blended into J&B, which was enjoying massive demand, although production didn't commence until 1974. It was first released as a Single Malt in 1986 and due to the perceived difficulty of the name the prefix 'Singleton' was used - which would eventually become a brand of itself under new owners Diageo, who added 'Singleton of' to Glen Ord, Glendullan and Dufftown releases.Singleton of Auchroisk never really took off like the other bottlings - and there is still some argument that it was simply the name that was the cause of this - and with it being so important to blending it's not often you see any kind of Auchroisk bottling in the wild - outside of a limited run in the Flora & Fauna range.
Which is a damn shame, has Auchroisk spirit features a nice medium-weight to the mouthfeel which accentuates notes of orchard fruits, vanilla cream and a touch of white pepper. The Bourbon cask maturation from G&M increases the vanilla notes, adding tones of banana cream and runny honey. It's a magnificent whisky for a Highball too!

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
