Gunnar's Wheated Bourbon 45% 75cl
Kansas is known as 'the Wheat State' - Gunnar's Bourbon Distillery is based in the town of Sedan in the South-East of the state, near the border of Oklahoma. Surrounded by fields of wheat, the business - owned by three families - produces a range of Bourbon with a higher than normal proporation of wheat, often dubbed at 'Wheated Bourbon' or 'a wheater'. This particular grain tends to provide a lighter, fresher note to whiskies, making them more approachable to drinkers dipping their toe into the category.
Pleasingly, the front label details the mashbill proportions, using 63% corn, 34% and 3% barley to create a soft and gentle spirit with almost citrus hints before caramel and soft spices arrive.
