Raj Bhakta founded the renowned WhistlePig brand in 2007 but was forced out of the business in 2016 - leading him to set up Bhakta Spirits, a more experimental venture focussing mainly on Armagnac releases. Armagnac as a category is criminally under-valued in the spirits industry, in my honest opinion up there with Cognac for quality but providing far better value for money.
While Bhakta has launched vintage Armagnac bottlings and some Bourbon and rye whiskies finished in Armagnac casks, Hogsworth is a fascinating marriage of Bourbon and Armagnac spirit to create something all of its own. What is wonderful to see is the detailed breakdown of the proporations of spirits within the bottle as such:

- 13% 2019 6yo Minnesota Bourbon
- 10% 2019 5yo 6mo Tennessee Bourbon
- 41% 2020 5yo Tennessee Bourbon
- 5.5% 2014 10yo Armagnac
- 5.5% 12yo 2012 Armagnac
- 9% 1973 52yo Armagnac
Yes, you read that right - nearly 10% of this bottle is a 52yo Armagnac. It's a fascinating blend of spirits and the end result is just as interesting. It's a spirit on the sweeter side with notes of caramel and brown sugar alongside orchard fruits, dried citrus peel and a touch of white pepper on the finish. I love Bourbon, I love Armagnac and I had really high hopes for this - and it absolutely meets them!

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All orders are sent on a Tracked service with Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
