Since 2012, the Piccadilly Group has been producing malt whisky made from 6-row Indian barley in the town of Indri, situated in the northern province of Haryana in the foothills of the Himalayas. The distillery even operates its own maltings, which are partly supplied with solar energy. As noted on the front label, 'Indri' in Sanskrit refers to the five senses, all of which the whisky is attempting to stimulate.
Unlike Indri Trini, which was a marriage of spirit matured in ex-Bourbon, Pedro Ximenez Sherry and barrels that previously held French red wines, Dru is a cask strength release using solely ex-Bourbon casks. The vanilla notes come through prominently before a hint of spice arrives at the finish, with tropical fruit flavours that are indiciative of the distillery profile threading through.
