On December 5th 2011 - the 78th anniversary of Prohibition’s repeal in America - the New York Distilling Company opened its doors in Brooklyn. Founded by cocktail and spirits expert Allen Katz and Tom Potter - a co-founder of the Brooklyn Brewery - NYDC aim to make spirits embodying the cocktail and drinking culture of New York through the years.
As well as a range of gins and vodkas, NYDC also produce a range of whiskies branded 'Ragtime Rye' - rye whiskey and ragtime music were synonymous in the early 20th Century, and the team produce whiskies hoping to evoke that era by using rye grown only in New York State.
After initial maturation for a minimum of 3 years in virgin American Oak casks, a batch of spirit is then transferred into barrels that had previously held Ragtime Rye whiskies - dubbed 'honey barrels' for their quality and ability to impart further fruity notes into the new liquid. Bottled at a Cask Strength of 56% this features intense notes of dried chili flakes, toasted sourdough bread and orange oil, overlaying soft notes of soft raisins and salted caramel. It's a superb whiskey for a decadent Old Fashioned, and naturally it's perfect for a Manhattan! - Delivery & Returns

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All orders are sent on a Tracked service with Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
