Rare Bird London Dry Gin 42% 70cl
After 20 years in the fire service, Matt Stewart and his wife Elizabeth decided to take the plunge and create a new gin brand in the beautiful market town of Malton, North Yorkshire. Having holidayed extensively across Europe, the pair decided to evoke the various places they had visited in the spirit they would be making.
This London Dry uses 11 different botanicals, including green peppercorns, hibiscus and rosemary, but it's the use of lemons from Tuscany that gives an incredible sweet citrus feel. This is a gin that drinks fantastically well on its own, sipped alone out of the fridge or even better out of the freezer. Sure, you can add tonic or another mixer if you wish - and if you want to do that then I would heartily recommend something along the lines of Fever Tree Mediterrean to allow the spirit to shine through - but in all honesty this deserves to be appreciated on its own. It's fresh and delicately balanced, but still has a lovely rich mouthfeel.During colder months it brings a ray of sunshine to proceedings, during Spring and Summer months it perfectly partners warm golden sunshine.
