    Although it sounds like it's describing the texture of the whiskey itself, 'Silkie' is so named after seal-like creatures who were able to shapeshift into human form - namely beautiful maidens with long dark hair and delicate voices. In essence, mermaids.

    But handily, the name does also give a good indication of what the whiskey itself offers. Produced by Donegal-based distillers Sliabh Liag Distillers (pronounced 'sleeve leeg'), this is a combinaton of 70% column distilled corn whiskey aged in re-charred barrels, 15% unpeated double distilled single malt aged in ex-Bourbon barrels, 13% unpeated triple distilled single malt spirit and 2% peated triple distilled single malt spirits, both aged in Sherry casks.

    There's a lovely sweet fruity note throughout - the nose itself reminds me of Fruit Salad sweets. That merest hint of peated whiskey does add an extra dimension, but there's a lovely tropical fruit feel which makes this immensely drinkable!

    Please note due to our opening times goods ordered on a Saturday may result in a delayed arrival. Goods ordered on a Sunday or Monday will be shipped from the store on the Tuesday immediately following - please bear this in mind if you have a deadline.

    Next Day Delivery uses DHL services, a tracking number will also be supplied to allow you to follow its journey.

    All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or excessive amount of bubble wrap for additional protection.

    All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.

    RETURNS / EXCHANGES POLICY

    The Spirit Specialist offers EXCHANGES ONLY on unwanted items to an equal amount. Refunds will not be given, cash differences in favour of the purchaser in the case of an exchange will also not be provided.
