Tomintoul
Tomintoul 10yo 40% 70cl
A relatively young distillery in the grand scheme of things, Tomintoul was founded in 1964 mainly as a workhorse distillery to produce malt whisky for blended brands. Indeed, such was it's usefulness it beame part of the Whyte & Mackay family in 1989, before being sold to Angus Dundee Distillers in 2000, who also own Glencadam.
Tomintoul markets itself as 'The Gentle Dram' and it's very easy to see why when enjoying this 10yo. Maturation in ex-Bourbon barrels provides a honeyed toffee note - it would be easy to think ex-Sherry casks have been involved somehow, but apparently this is not the case. A hint of warm oak lifts and lengthens the finish, making this most approachable to many drinkers. Please note due to our opening times goods ordered on a Saturday may result in a delayed arrival.
